There is an article on msn today and the headline states “zoo visitors watch bear kill, eat monkey.” This happened in the Netherlands. There was a group of bears that chased a macaque monkey onto a wooden structure. The bear tied to shake the monkey off the wooden structure, but when it could not it climbed up and grabbed the monkey and mauled it to death. After killing it the bear brought the death monkey to it dean and three bears ate it. The zoo stated that the habitats here in the safari park are arranged in such a way that one animal almost never kills another, but they are and remain wild animals. What I don’t understand is why these two animals were in the same cage or area. I think bears can and will be violent and they should not be in cages with other animals. I don’t like it in fact I hate to see other animals killing each other. Why did this zoo keep these two animals in the same cage? What do you think? If you were the officials of the zoo would you keep two different types of animals in the same cage? This is just horrible young children could have been watching and they could be horrified and scared to return to zoos because of what happened. That is not right nor is it fair.

I like zoos. Especially the elephants.
