Today I saw a headline that really interested me. The largest religion in the world as of today is Islam. Islam surpassed Roman-Catholicism. It is amazing to me how Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, religions with such similarities became mortal enemies.
The question I want to ask today, is how is it the we feud over minor things. Personally, as a Jew, I believe in the Zionist movement. I understand that some (or I will go as far as saying many) will say that Israel does not deserve to exist as a Jewish state. First I think it is important that you understand where we, the Jewish people come from.
In the book of exodus, we were enslaved by Pharaoh Ramses II. Moses was able to use strength from g-d and prayer to gain freedom for the Jews. After finally reaching freedom, the Jews spent 40 years (sorry if that number is incorrect) years wandering the desert. Once they finally reached the land of milk and honey, Canaan, today Israel, Moses was not allowed in.
Throughout history after that, persecution continued. It still continues today. I don't wish to rehash that history of Jewish persecution because I know nobody would want to read it.
Now I want everyone to imagine this. You are an American Indian and you have been kicked off your land. Many years later, the government decides to give you the land for all of your pain and suffering.
Consider this now. The Jews were forced to leave Canaan (modern day Israel) and the United Nations and Great Britain together gave the Jewish people somewhere to live. Is it so wrong for the Jews to have a homeland?
I am presenting these questions, because I feel they are the longterm causes of a future World War 3. It will be Islam versus Christianity and Judaism. A war of religion. There is no correct or incorrect way to pray. The Israeli government has been very kind to other nations and even Muslims traveling to Mecca allowing them to travel through Israel as to not slow down their travel to the holy site. Imagine a Jew trying to travel through a place like Mecca towards Jerusalem. They would be arrested.
My final question to you, is what can we do to avoid another World War? I love the way I live, but I fear that if action is not taken to be more diplomatic around the world, America will be a hated place and World War 3 is imminent.
I know this sounds really dumb...but my dad is muslim and my mom is Jewish. So, I was raised to believe whatever I want and I was taught both sides of the story. I personally think that it was horrible for the UN to kick all of the Muslims out of Palistine/Isreal. Yes, we did need to give the Jews a "homeland" but why do we have to shove all the palistnians away from where they were living? Thats not fair at all is it?
