Drum Roll

I've had a guitar since I was ten. The first two years I had it I barely touched it. Actually, it probably took up till me being a sophomore until I picked it with the intent of learning more. I still find myself not that accomplished of a player. I suppose I see that I am much better pursuing the drums, if I ever wanted to embellish on the band thing, but I still feel obligated to shred.

The Drums...I've been drumming for about two years. I've never had lessons. There's something about the drums that keeps my attention. Listening to someone play the drums urges me to learn more, different styles. It's great. The thing is, every time I venture west to guitar center, I feel really stupid. I have the basic concepts of a drum set, but I'm not that technically educated. Sometimes the employees talk to me, and I struggle to understand their drumming jargon. I feel like I don't belong. I'm not a complete moron, and I've learned how to use context clues, but somethings are over my head.

I'm not really sure where I stand as a drummer. I only know a few other drummers, none of which are close friends. It'd be much better to be challenged to be a better musician. Drums feel. I've listened to music and thought "That drummer is boring." I've also listened to some music and thought "Wow, that's impressive. Why did he figure it like that".
(MewithoutYou- Sun and the moon, the song I'm referencing )

I see so many approaches to one song. I understand restraint. When there's a time to be subtle and quiet, and loud and noxious. Some people don't, not yet. It's like playing along with a two-hour solo. I like making music. Not letting someone demonstrate chops. Solos are so 80's...Actually the 80's are cool now.
