When is it right to lie and steal? And when is it right to betray your best friend? I recently found out that my best friend is practically stealing from the school to get money to pay for her prom dress. No one has the guts to tell her that what she is doing is wrong. Instead we are inadvertently trying to tell her by not bringing in food for the bake sales and she is having. She is the president of a club at school and last year her father laid out $600 for costume jewelry for a show. She told her dad that he would be reimbursed. The teacher found out what she did and said that they would repay him by having bakesales. Now instead of giving the money to her parents she is using it to pay for her prom dress and limo because her parents are not willing to pay for it all. She worked over the summer but she spent all the money on her boyfriend and other gifts for people. Meanwhile the teacher asked for a receipt and she is spending all her time worrying about this and askign me about what it is and how to write one.
This last baskesale was supposed to be for the costumes for this year's dance but she is secretly planning to use it for prom. What she is doing is wrong and only a few people know about her plans. How do you tell one of your best friends that what she is doing is morally wrong. Especially when this friend has no morals. She is practically a pathological liar: she's lied about numerous things to make herself look better when we all know the truth and she has been lying to her parents about the fact that she has a boyfriend. Then again her parents are not exactly sane, but that's a completely different story.

I suppose a question to ask is do you want her to be your friend? You cannot change people. You could nark on her. She might hate you. She might take revenge. I think she doesn't feel wrong for doing what she is doing. Even though what she is doing may be morally wrong, imagine someone telling you that what you are doing is morally wrong. I mean, how would you react to that?
