Never Original.

Is it strange to anyone else that nothing is terribly original any more?

Songs, eventually, start to sound like other songs. Clothes? Are all recycled from older time periods and decades and such(bell bottoms and converse shoes). The different hair colour thing? Is also recycled from other decades. Punk isn't original. Goth isn't original, emo's not even quite original.

Is there any style that is?

Are PEOPLE original? Every story lately resembles another story I've heard somewhere. People speak like other people. Look like other people.

I always hear "You look like someone I know." Well, great.

Not even personalities are terribly original.

At what point does originality end? When do all the ideas get taken up?

Are ideas finite? Or infinite?

I don't know. I was thinking about a dress for prom. And I was like "I want an original one." Well, they all look like... something I've seen before. And so finding my cinderella dress is near impossible.

This was more of a rant than anything, but I thought, this is applicable to everything.

Even in high school, when you're trying to be yourself, you're named "poser" if you dress or act like anyone else.
But everything else has been thought up, really. Not that I'm TRYING to be like other people. I just end up kind of similar to them. Original ideas are so hard to come by.

It drives me crazy! Even things that aren't original....I once wore a scarf as a belt (in elementary school) because I thought it looked cool, not because I was a "poser", I was made fun of it!!! Endlessly!!! NOW (or at least awhile ago) scarf belts were boomingly popular and $12.00! UGH! haha

Also, in Middle School, I wore one of those really flowing skirts. Everybody hated it, and asked when the mayflower was coming to pick me up! NOW? They are very popular!

Am I crazy? NO, but I am very confused with trends, and why I never seem to be in step with everyone else! I'm not complaining, but it seems like everybody should be alittle more understanding, especially if they're going to wear the same thing!

(Well I guess I added my own personal rant right onto yours!...hope you don't mind sharing your rant space)

Oh, I never mind things like that. :D Shared rants are always good. Shows me I'm right and makes me happy. Glad you agree :D.

You're absolutely right! We were having a conversation about this in my Psychology class the other week. When a person tries to be original, they usually end up basing their "originality" of someone else's style and another person will do the same and so on. Even wanting to be original isn't original. It seems like the more people try to be different, the less they are.
