It has come to my attention that Reagan was a great president. How was he a great president? That is simple, most people thought that he followed the same guideline that all presidents followed. This is not true, he actually followed FDR plan of attack. Reagan went to the floor of congress and said basically do your job and they did. We have lost our way as a country. We are trying to become a Welfare state and trying to run the lives of our people. The government is slowly killing us. I do not want the governments help. I do not want the governments hand out I am not a bum I work hard and with great pride. I earned everything I have received and none of it was by a handout from the government.
I feel sometimes like I am the only person that cares. I turn on the T.V. and I see the glorification of Obama a man that should not be running for office. Why should he not run for office? Well that is simply experience he does not have any. I am not going to harp on his lack of experience or his guilt by association. No I am not here to talk solo about him. In the year 1979 Reagan was elected to be the President because he wanted to help the American people. Not by giving us money or what the government thinks we need. No he removed wasteful government spending. Will either of the two current candidates do these things? Reagan also helped to repair the broken military. Will Obama or McCain do this? Do they even know it is broken?
What really gets me is not that these two people are running for president, or that the value of either of the two is questionable, but rather why are we concerned with a back up system. The president only has the power to sign law into effect or to veto them. Why then are we not more worried about the congress? Do you even know who your congress people are? Did you know that they are up there to vote the way that you want them to, not by their own convictions or moral compass. Somewhere along the way congress has lost sight of that. They get 6 years in office before they are up for re-election and short of breaking the law you can not have them fired for not doing their job. Their elections for the most part do not fall during the same time as the president race. So no one takes the time to go out and vote for them. That is our primary system of government the one we should be focused on but we do not seem to care.
So where is your congress? Most of our congress people are on vacation and now during a great energy crisis while people have plans that can fix the problem and they are not trying to vote on them. Also congress has no time after the return to vote on them before the next president is elected and the bill become void. So ask yourself are you in good hands or are you on the chopping block?
America is already walking around on a crutch we do not need are last leg broken and to be forced into a chair for the rest of our lives. We need that crutch taken away and for us to stand on our own two feet and to be able to look the rest of the world in the eye and say we have fixed our own problems you fix yours. We were once a great nation and we can be again, but not if we follow the socialist agenda of psychotic people that are out to destroy our way of life. Think about this, if this country fails there is nowhere else to go.

Finally!!! Someone with my logic! I am very happy. I totally agree with everything you have said in your post. Our government is awful and might I just say that I am totally against them and also believe they have evil plans. I go with Lewis Black's logic : Take a monkey and drop him off of a plan and let him pick a person. Who ever's hand he touches first will be the next president. This logic is better than what we have right now.

Love comments? I do too!
I agree I would let a monkey choose the next President. I would also like to see a fight to the death winner takes all. I am just kidding. Thank you for replying.

Don't kid about that I think that would be awesome a fight. Maybe not to the death, but a fight. lol.
Sorry to disappoint you, but I am voting for Lewis Black.

I was just imagining the POW Sen McCain Trying to fight The book worm Sen Obama while wondering if one would run away or stay bullheaded even though defeat was clear.
Actually I think there would be no contest since the weenier one would just run away.

It’s funny that my husband and I were just talking about this same exact thing. The problems of today are the same as yesterday and nothing will change if 'We the People' continue to only focus on one small aspect of our government as if the President is all there is. The founding fathers purposely built this system so that would not happen. I want to blame the media for keeping our eyes ogled away from were they are suppose to be but they are not the only ones to blame, there are parents and teachers and ourselves all doing the disservice.
I also told him if anybody said honestly that "they are up there to vote the way we wanted them to, not by their own convictions or moral compass" I would vote for them. Actually I think I told him that would be my platform or something if I ever ran for anything.
Good thoughts... I only hope its not to late.

To the initial posting, excellent! I couldn't have said it better, I agree with you 100%...I stumbled across this page in doing my research for a term paper...and I had to register just to post this and tell you GOOD JOB!! Thank you for your great thoughts, we are a democracy, not a socialist society; your posting was just awesome!
To the other replies...we need more people out there with this mindset...keep going and fight the good fight. We have a Constitution, lets live by it!
I hope your research project goes well.
Take a moment when you have a break and introduce yourself in the 'Fourms' Intro area. If you have any question feel free to ask me or anyone else with a badge (a symbol that looks like a orange comment bubble).
You have stumbled onto an amazing website (no I do not get paid to say that...I do not get paid at all) to speak out and create the change we need (thats not copy written is it).
Stick around, share and Good Luck,
