ProgressiveU is all about progress. We encourage you to think, to speak up and to reach out. As many of you know, ProgressiveU users aren't your typical high school and college bloggers. We come from across the nation to discuss the things that many of our peers don't often discuss; the War in Iraq, healthcare, education, the economy and the list goes on. With the Presidential election quickly approaching, many of those conversations have turned in that direction. And now it's time for a little bit more.
On Day One and the Better World Campaign have asked what issue(s) the 44th president of the United States should tackle on day one. Should it be the War in Iraq? A commitment to tackling global climate change? The United States image to the world? Or should it be something else?
We want our users to participate in the global conversation and tell On Day One what they think should come first! And we're going to reward you for taking part!
Every user who visits the On Day One website between now and May 8, 2008 and adds their thoughts to the “Set the Agenda” conversation will earn 50 bonus points towards the Blogging for Progress Scholarship competition. Sounds easy right?
It is! But, there are a few rules.
Your contribution should be relevant (that is, no participating just to say that you're moving to Canada if X wins).
You should copy and paste your submission to this form (along with your ProgressiveU username) so we can award your points. If you don't copy your submission to us, you won't get the points!
Now, that's the easy part! On Day One is also sponsoring a Y In The World video competition and we would love to see some of you post your videos to the competition for a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to the UN Headquarters in New York City for the Youth Leadership Summit in July.
Anyone who submits a video to the competition will be awarded 200 points towards the Blogging for Progress Scholarship Competition, in addition to the 50 points for their written submission to the conversation!
You can submit your videos by visiting the Y in the World page here and following the instructions. Once you've submitted your video, you should copy the link (and your YouTube username) into the form here for us.
Again, entries should be relevant and adhere to the rules of the competition. Please note that while only those under age 24 are eligible to win the competition, those of you over the age of 24 are still encouraged to send along your submissions.
If you have questions, you can contact Fallon or email the On Day One folks at EFinucane@betterworldcampaign.org.
Remember, in order to earn points towards the ProgressiveU BFP contest, your entries should be in by midnight (PST) May 8th, 2008!
