"They're gonna clean up your looks
With all the lies in the books
To make a citizen out of you
Because they sleep with a gun
And keep an eye on you, son
So they can watch all the things you do
Because the drugs never work
They're gonna give you a smirk
'Cause they got methods of keeping you clean
They're gonna rip up your heads,
Your aspirations to shreds
Another cog in the murder machine
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me"
-MCR "Teenagers"
There is so much peer pressure these days to do the crazyiest things. Everyone talks about drugs, drinking, sex, etc. I hear all these people talk about buying and selling drugs. Drinking during lunch time. I have heard of this young freshmen couple who are already want to have sex, but aren't just because they don't have anywhere to do it. I remember when I was a freshmen, I still thought I was too young to have a boyfriend. People have changed so much in the past years. Influenced by the people around them and the media. I mean most of my friends are great influences. They focus on studies more than sex. Drinking and drugs are just things that happen in school, but never to them. Sure, i have friends who do do those things. I don't judge them. They do it periodically, and they don't pressure me to do it. They do talk about it, but they won't force me to do it.
Still, there are those who do it all the time and talk about it so freely, and it makes me wonder why they would risk so much for a minute of a little fun. Everything is at stake in those situations. Their years at school would be a waste if they mess up doing any of that stuff. Drugs and drinking can mess you up alone since you're underage, but worse, it screws up your thoughts and puts you in danger. And if you have a baby, it changes everything. Nevertheless, there are those risk takers. Those who talk about sex like they couldn't live without it. Who have a spare bottle in the back of their car for a quick drink whenever they want. Who can't wait until it's their turn to "puff and pass."
People are so influenced by their environment. People act certain ways to seem appealing to others. They are molded by friends and family and the media to act like they think other want them to. So when you think about it, how do you really know who your hanging out with? How do you know that what you see isn't just a front? There are emotions and things about people that they don't like to show or talk about because they might seem weak or vunerable or just plain weird. The quiet things that no one ever knows, the people that hide their true self to seem "normal." That is what peer pressure does. It changes people to act like other want them to. how do you deal?

Sounds like my school. You are so right. How do we deal? That's an answer I'm afraid no one will come up with.
