Iraq Fails Benchmarks

My Summary:
The Senate is now requesting that Bush not only give a report on the troops on September 15, but also on July 15. A Republican backed proposal from Sens. Susan Collins and Ben Nelson is working on pulling troops out of Iraq. The Senate took up $649 billion defense policy bill. They are trying to establish an Iraqi government that can protect it's own boarders. Troops will then start being sent home.

...Truth be told, we're not getting out of Iraq anytime soon, at least not during Bush's presidency. Iraq can't establish and confirm a government that fast and keep it stable with American troops pulling out. Personally, I don't think we have any business over there now...b/c when we first started what we now call the "United States of America" we had to start on our own. We didn't have a country's military there to back us up, we were on our own & guess what?...we survived through it...look at us now, I'd say we're doing pretty good for starting out on our own. Though I realized that we started in 1776 and this is 2007 so times have definatly changed and there are a lot more vicious people out in this world today.
