This really bothers me. The German friends I know have had people giving them "Hail Hitler" signs in the hallway and laughing. Other people I know always bring up Nazi-related things to these Germans, making constantly have to reference and explain something they really shouldn't have to do.
My friends are not Nazis. They're German.

That's too bad. Not all Germans, and especially not your friends, were Nazis. Still, it's a small punishment for the millions of people killed in the Holocaust.
It's sad how some can joke about such a serious topic. Why should they be judge because of what a crazy man did?
It's even worse when they're only here for a year, and this is their impression of America.
