Have you ever seen that Budweiser commercial with the soldiers getting off their flight to a standing ovation from the people in the airport? I love that commercial. It makes me want to cry almost every time I think I see. I want to thank the people that die for me in some way but a 'thank you' card like the ones we just did at school for soldiers in Baghdad, seems like so little. I wish they could know how thankful I am that they are doing what I know I couldn't do. And those other videos out there of the funerals and the widow or mother or child getting the flag...what do you say to those left behind after their loved one has given the ultimate sacrifice for you?
I support the troops but that has nothing to do with how I feel about the war. If I oppose it or am for it, I wish no soldier would even have to die. My friends dad is in the service and he is never home. My cousin wanted to reenlist in the marines after 9/11 but our family wouldn't let him, said it would hurt to much for him to have to leave again.
We've lost only a few soldiers from my community and I'm thankful for that. But I know many soldiers have lost their lives in Iraq and Afganistan these last few years.
If any of those who read this are in some way serving the country through a parent, sibling, or anyway really, I just wanted to say Thank You. I wish I could express it better.
Thank You Mr. Soldier
