My worldview and your worldview part 1

Hello people of the world,

I thought I start off with a subject that is kind of controversial and that I have a definite opinion on. What subject is that? (Please keep an open mind.)

Religion

I am not a practictioner of any monotheistic or polytheistic religion. I plainly believe that they are incorrect models of how to view existence. I do not believe in God, as defined by the Abrahamic faiths ( Judaism, Christianity, and Islam). Nor do I believe in any of the silly, yet fun polytheistic religions (Hinduism, Greek, or Norse).

"What? "you wonder, "How can you not see the truth of God? "

Well its really quite simple. Its because of the way the Abrahamic faiths define their God. And yes it is all the same God they believe in, its just that the details are different. YOu can look it up if you want, I encourage it. Go learn, but first learn from me.

Any time I ask or look, God is defined as an entity or being that is all knowing, all powerful, and everywhere at once. OR the big words for that omniscience, omnipotent, and omnipresent. In other words, perfect. Are these things the big qualifiers for God? Yes, they are if you had to break the concept down. I disagree with the model because a being cannot know everything and we exist at the same time. It just doesn't work.

Here's why. First let's prove something. If you know everything, would you not then know how to do anything? Answer: You would otherwise you wouldn't know everything. This also proves that by knowing everything you are all powerful and the reverse is true. If you can do anything, you can know everything. Also you are everywhere at once by being everything; normal matter, dark matter, and the all empty space it occupies.

If you are perfect. That means you don't need anything or want anything. Why? Because wants and needs are things of imperfect beings i.e. us (humans and all other life). A perfect being can't need otherwise he's not perfect. It would be like us, and we are obviously not perfect, a flaw in the design. A perfect being has no needs and therefore has no wants because it has everything it could possibly need. God must thererfore be completely fulfilled.
A perfect being knows what its like to experience every emotion at their maxiumum at all time, and in effect canceling them out. God must therefore not want or need anything and does not actually feel anything. God must be a completely fufilled being, and therefore has no need to create us. If God is a completely fufilled being why would he need us? We cannot exist at the same time as a being who is perfect because nature is imperfect.
Its as simple as that.
IF you did not really get all that, several things. A.) I will find a simpler way to explain this. B.) Just run through some thought experiments with what its like to know everything or to be able to do anything. These will help you see what I see, its how I came to my views. Or you can look up some anti-monotheistic religion arguments on the web, I'm sure there are plenty of them.

So what do I believe in? I believe in the good of humanity, and its will to change itself and the world for the better. I believe that we are good for the most part, and that we can’t be killed at this point in our existence; there are just too many of us. So, what about reality? I’ve come to this conclusion: because I can’t prove otherwise, and for practicality’s sake, I accept this world as real. My reasoning for just accepting it as real is that the mind can produce powerful delusions to make anyone believe anything, so even if this world isn’t real I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. This is what I believe. So how does it affect the rest of my life?
Because I only accept reality for practicality I question everything; much to my friends and teachers annoyance. I question whatever it is until I get the best answer, and while I do it I have a habit of making it into a joke. A part of my questioning is to ridicule it until it stands on its own feet after being knocked down. By questioning things I get the best answers because only the best answers survive being thoroughly examined. This has helped me learn, a useful tool to further my education in school and in life. A tool I will use for the rest of my life. How does my no God theory affect my personal relationships? I avoid these conversations for the most part, and always give patient, understanding answers to those who see differently to me. I just don’t want to offend anybody because like them I want to lead a good life.

Alright, I think that's enough for now. I'll come back later and give you more on my thoughts on religion because, trust me, I have more. I guess that concludes part one

When I reached the paragraph in which you wrote about perfection and God, I was preparing myself for a "Descarte esque" headache :P
Also, your personal belief/ philosophy, believing in the "good of humanity" reminds me of that reflected in Ayn Rand's objectivism (I feel a bit of a tool mentioning her as I just wrote a blog about her, but as I'm rereading Atlas Shrugged, I deem it forgivable)

Kaitlyn.
