If you’re anyone who's everyone, you have recently watched the news or read a newspaper article about the 400+ children who were taken from a ranch in Texas. That does not include the 100+ women who chose to leave on their own free will. So, it that right for the children to be taken away? Here are my two points on the subject.
1. The teenage girl who tipped off the police said that they were being beaten, raped and abused. Many of the children under the age of 18 who were married were found to be pregnant. Now, these are girls are 13, 14, 15, 16 years old. These girls are said to be forced into marriage with an older man and expected to start producing children. Then the cycle starts all over again when their children marry at a young age as well.
2. This is also the only life the children know. Think of the trauma they will face when confronted with things that they were taught was dangerous to them but not to us. Many of them are probably fighting to go back to life they just left.
Think about it. We are probably doing more harm to the children by taking them away from their “family”, than by leaving them there. I’m not saying I agree with polygamy, I just think that we need to find a better way of dealing with stuff like this
So, is this a correct way to live? Should we pull out abused children?
(*Note: Different news site posted different numbers*)

Its a good point. My opinion, is even though this is the only life that these children know, whos to say that taking them away from their families, wont give them a chance for a better life. I cant see a Polygamy family being, the healthiest, and happiest life for a child, or any person period.
It is sad, and may cause some kind of trauma to the child, but I think I would much rather take that chance, and give the child more of a chance for a happier and more full filling life, in a different family.
Just a thought.
Removing children from a cult may be traumatic, but that does not invalidate such an action. Allowing them to live in a deluded world where they were brainwashed into submission is going to help them a lot less than will taking them away and telling them the truth. Letting them stay at that ranch would have sent a message that it's OK to have cult followings in the middle of the desert where 13-year-olds marry 90-year-olds.

I think it's better those children be taken away. being raped and beaten isn't exactly healthy. But I don't have a problem with polygamy per se, only the weird, forced, abusive kind.

Sneezing is a gift from God and should be treated as such
Polygamy is a recipe for families being on foodstamps and welfare.
As long as such families are barred from the social welfare system I have no problem with them living that way, But if I am going to get taxed tio support them then I am definately against it.
