When I originally created this journal, I meant to keep up with it. Honestly, I did.
And then life happened. That's typical, isn't it? We say we're going to do something, go all out in an attempt to be sure if still happens, only to forget about it days later. I"ve done that before. Look through my desk drawers at my awesome exercise plan. I look at it every now and then and think, "Wow, what a great idea that was," and then place it back in my drawer and go about my day.
Yeah, I probably need a bit more dedication than that.
That's not to say I'm not dedicated to anything, though. I've been at my school for upwards of twelve hours these past few weeks. I know they never said working in a musical was easy, but it's insane when I think about the hours it takes up in my life.
For any curious souls out there, my high school is putting on the musical Oklahoma! and I'm playing Gertie. I get to have an obnoxious laugh, flirt with a boy, and receive a kiss. Not too shabby, huh?
The biggest problem with the musical happens to be my shoes. All girls had to order character shoes for their costumes and I didn't order mine a half size larger.
Why? I don't know. The site even said to make sure I ordered them a half size larger. I even rechecked my information and didn't change the size. So what do I have now?
Shoes that are too small.
Not too small for my feet to fit, of course. I can cram them in there and where them for a little while. I don't have to wear them for long periods, either. I can take them off.
But when I first got them, I figured, "Oh, sure, they just need streched out. No big deal." I pu them on, wore them for half an hour or so. Eventually, I looked down and saw my feet turning a deep red/purple color.
"My circulation!"
Immediately I kicked off my shoes. It was horrifying-- I kept wiggling my toes. I was almost afraid to go to sleep, thinking I would lose one. But all ten toes are still intact, even after wearing them for a full practice yesterday.
And yes, my heels are also sore and I might have a blister or two forming. But no matter.
The musical will be worth it. I'm so unbelievable excited-- despite all my lack of personal time. It's funny, it's well-acted, intensely rehearsed. The cast is unbelievably fun, the songs are hilarious.
It's going to be a good time.

I've always asked the question, Is Oklahoma worth renting? I've never seen it. In fact, the only thing I know about the state is that Senator Inhofe is in denial.

Hey now! Oklahoma's not a bad place. Somehow, reporters always try to find the biggest, dirtiest redneck they can find to interview on the news. We're not all like that. :)
There's actually some good history here. Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Shannon Miller, Toby Keith, Brad Pitt, Jim Thorpe, and many other personalities are from Oklahoma. Plus, our Miss Oklahoma has won Miss USA the past two years. We have the National Softball Hall of Fame, Cowboy Museum, and a TON of Native American culture.
