Once again, the good citizens of Salina, Kansas offer us some entertainment through their phoned-in statements to our local paper, the Salina Journal.

"I can't burn my leaves. I can't burn my trash. That's pollution. But if I burnt 8 bazillion tons of coal out in western Kansas and made a million bucks, that's progress."
[Right on. Support wind energy all the way! oh, and I love the use of the word "bazillion." I bet this was a college student. haha.]

"Hey, pumpkin smashers, this year I have a real tempting display and I'm going to put you on candid camera. In years past, you've gotten away with smashing my grandkids' pumpkins. Not this year."
[Granny on a mission. Look out!]

"I want to know why my 18-year-old son who voluntarily joined the Army to serve our country can't get a credit card. My deceased house cat gets applications all the time."
[I wonder the same thing myself. But I also wonder why people keep talking about their dogs and cats getting credit card applications. How do creditors even get their names and addresses?]

"Has anyone else noticed how sucky our mall is? Yeah, how 'bout we get some good stores for once?"
[Once again, another college student. Notice the free use of slang and improper grammar. okay, maybe it's a highschooler then.]

"Yeah, so I love the 333 line. It just proves to me how closed-minded people in Salina are."
[Hardy har har.]
