In the Democrat's 2008 Presidential race, history is being made- we have a woman(Hillary Clinton), African American (Barack Obama), and Hispanic (Bill Richardson), all running for the Oval Office. Recently, people have been complaining that Hillary Clinton is not "woman enough" and that Obama is not "black enough", or that Richardson does not represent the Hispanic community. What is wrong with the American public? We complain that we need change in Washington, but reject the opportunities given to us. I would like to focus my attention on Hillary Clinton, the Democratic frontrunner in the primary race. My parents, staunch conservative Republicans, have contemplated voting for Hillary Clinton, as they do not agree with the socially liberal positions of Giuliani. However, they continue to tell me (a moderately liberal Democrat), that they are not sure whether or not they will vote for her because she is a woman. This situation is evident across the entire United States. Countless times, I have heard people complaining that they would vote for Hillary if she was not a woman. I thought that we voted for a President based on ability, not gender or race. Hillary Clinton's policies reflect what I am looking for in a President, and I DON'T CARE that she is a woman. Sure, the country will have its first woman President, but it will also have a great leader (in my mind), and will start moving in the right direction. Being a woman should NOT be a reason to vote for or not vote for Hillary in 2008. Her platform, experience, and plans are what matter. The United States needs to stop our prejudiced acts against different groups, and start making decisions based on the content and character of the candidate.

Despite the fact that she is a woman, many people still seem like they want to put her in the White House though. If that's not true, then she wouldn't be the front runner of the Democrats...right? I am afraid that people are focusing on too much of whether the Presidential candidates are a woman, a man of color and a Hispanic. They should be focusing on the issues each of the represent.

Very interesting... I haven't heard anyone deciding whom to vote for based on gender, race, etc (although I have heard a few Morman cracks about Romney). Where do you life?

I don;t like any of them. Hiliary is full of crap, and Obama keeps "hopeing" for things to happen but never says how it will happen. I am still pissed that the person i was going to vote for dropped out of the race, so now i am going to sit back, relax and watch the three runners fight it out, and wait to see who is vote worthy. Personally i have heard more bad mouthing from clinton and obama...it disguest me. i watch mabye one of clintons debates before i was so disguested by what she said about bush i turned her off and put on something else, they have been so caught up in making one another look bad,. they forget to address the point of the matter.
