So, I was sitting in front of my locker this morning and a girl that was a few lockers down from me asked if she could ask me a question. I agreed and then she asked, "Who is the vice president?" at first I thought that she was asking about, well a vice president that wasn't THE vice president, but no she was talking about Dick Cheney. You would think that a senior in high school would make the effort to learn the name of the Vice President. I am not sure if this shows how stupid my age group is, or if it should be reflected on to the school for not bringing up current events in the class room. Either way it is pretty sad.

I agree... but not every one is into politics, a couple of people in my are extremely smart but don't know who the vice-president is and could care less frankly... we can't really fault someone just because they find politics boring
I can understand that not everyone is into politics, but there are just common things that everyone should know. Like if they asked me who the chairman of the federal reserve was I wouldn't be as shocked because not that many people care about that, but the President and the Vice President are things that every person should just know.
Still, you should know who the VP is.
Nancy
That is just what I am trying to say.
when no one new who the speaker of the house was in my government class..."NANCY WHO?"
Em <3
I just wrote a blog about the same thing. I agree that it's sad that students in High School don't know who the Vice President of the United States is.
I agree. But is might be for the best that they don't know who Dick Cheney is. ;)
"Our politics are our deepest forms of expression, they mirror our past experiences and reflect our dreams and aspirations for the future."
It's the fault of the ignorant, beer-swilling, NASCAR-watching parents that they don't teach their kids anything important. You can't count on schools to civilize your kids when you aren't bothering to.
