I wrote this poem in bahalf of the 9/11 disaster. This poem has really touched my father because he was "almost" sent to the 9/11 disaster. I remember crying on my bed hoping that he didnt go. I have always been a firemans daughter and wondered from day to day if he was going to come home safe or not. And i remembered watching the news and heard of a fireman who was pulling a woman out of some rubble in a tunnel and while he was pulling her out the tunnel fell on top of him and he died while the woman only had minor scratches. That story really touched me. Even though i cant remember what his name was this poem goes out to him.
The Hero
While the woman is laying there covered in dust,
She looks all over for someone she trusts.
She sees a shadow and sticks out her hand,
When it pulls her out it is that of a man.
It is a fireman, saving a life,
And now she is grateful to still be alive.
Later she learns her hero hit trouble,
As all around him turned into rubble.
While saving lives that September day,
The building crashed down before he got away.
All the proud families and people cried,
For that is the day the heroic man died.
A nation almost knocked to the ground,
But now stands stronger and more profound.
Trying to separate people with hate,
Brought them together who now appreciate.
The life they live, in a country they love,
That is blessed by god from up above.

This man even for a second made me a better person. I am really proud to be a firemans daughter. And what my dad does for people.
Thank You
