It's amazing how many Americans are crying at the pump but are willing to oppose a gas tax holiday. It's not their fault; they're not stupid, if anything they're ethical people who don't want quick fixes for complex problems. They are neither people who want to suffer at the pumps, they want to pay less, anybody would, so why would they oppose the tax holiday. The answer is simple, Obama's deceptiveness. His sly, silly, slimy, new version of business a usual in D.C politics, and cynicism.
Obama was quick to cry fowl and dismiss the initiative as mere politics. He claimed it was politics as usual and it wouldn't solve the problem of rising gas prices. Well, duh, it wasn't meant to solve the problem which is a global one, it was meant to relieve people who are hurting at the pumps. Obama distributed the koolaid and most people including the legislature, that consists of Obama fans, drank it.
The truth is if we had a gas tax holiday for the summer, we would be paying a lot less right now, and hoping the legislature does something to address the bigger picture. That was the basic simple idea behind it, but simple ideas are usually not popular, especially in todays sophisticated world. It had to have a catch, and Obama used his acute political sense to satisfy that suspicion. He fulfilled that intricacy and mysteriousness that our modern mind desires. The truth is even if it was politics as usual we would be paying less, regardless of how less.
Another flaw of Obama it showed was his willingness to consider the ideas of opponents, as contrasted to the others. McCain, a republican, made a proposal, Clinton, a democrat, thought it was a good one and lent her support, Obama didn't like it and played politics with it, just like it works in Washington. You trash those who you don't agree with. Thereby scoring political points.
Here's how i see it. If my pants tear close to my butt at school, it would make sense for me to get a form of pin to hold it together, then i can go home and change it, but at least i'm going to do something about it. That's the point of this whole thing, hold it together while a permanent solution is in the works.
This guy is not only cynical, he's cunning. If he actually saw politics as usual, it means his paradigm of viewing things, his frame of reference is that of the Washington he claims he's going to change.
Obama is very deceptive. His actions, at least as of late, are not based on principle--they are based on what will help him the most politically. Obama will do anything to get elected. He attended a church led by one of the biggest racists in America. He lies all the time like abou this uncle in WWII and about his past. Obama would probably let all the criminals out of jail if he could get a guarantee that they would vote for him.
