The So-Called "White Racists" and reverse discrimination!

I just don't get it!
You have:
     BET
     The Black Carpet
     Black History Month
     NAACP
     Ebony Magazine
     Miss Fashionetta
     National Blacks Honor Society
You call me:
     Cracker
     Red Neck
     Hillbilly
     Whitie
Yet if we had:
     White Entertainment Television
     The White Carpet
     WAACP
We are racist!
Altogether blacks can enjoy what they have with what we have. If anyone was to deny the right of Blacks or any minority having their own organizations, then they are racists. In order to keep everyone happy, these organizations must remain intact. Whatever happened to "all men are created equal?"
In the case of Plessy v. Ferguson, the court upheld that facilities were seperate but equal. However, they were not equal. And in the case of  Brown v. Board of Education, the Supreme Court held that segregation was unconstitutional. Over the years the government has fought to protect and ensure that all people are treated equally. After the Civil War, the thirteenth, fourteenth, ad fifteenth amendment abolished slavery and gave Blacks the right to vote. the nineteenth amendment agve women the right to vote. It may seem that Blacks are the main concern, but women even struggled with being treated equally.
I feel that since we all live in America, the most free country in the WORLD, that everyone should be able to enjoy the same things as anyone is able to enjoy. If everything is equal, then I want a white entertainment television and a wite history month. But do we cry and obsess over it, no we don't!!!!
Slavery has been over for hundreds of years. In no way is ayone still trying to persecute any minority in any way. The way you are now is from the choices and decisions that you make. The government is not holding you back, the white man is not opressing you, it's you. No one is racist!!! It's just a mentality.
Only you can make yourself succeed. No one else!

I understand where you're coming from an I wish everyone can be equal. But would that really be economically and politically good for a nation? I'm also trying really hard not to be racist or sexist (like what I wrote in one of my blogs). If what you're saying is true, perhaps it's all just in my mind...

I completely understand where you are coming from. Unfortunately no matter how many Black organizations are created we can never changed the biases in people's minds. Unfortunately, there must be Affirmative action, BET, the NAACP, and other African American affiliated organizations to level out the playing field. Not everyone is color blind. The majority of people in today's society actually believe the stereotypes about races other than their own. If you and I both applied for the same job, I'm quite sure the employer would associate certain negative things with me because I'm black. I don't mean to offend anyone but this has happened to me in the past. It's a shame that we can't all be seen as human beings and judged as individuals. Im simply sadden by these injustices on both parts

I really get tired of people acting like our organizations are racist. There's a reason to the things that we have. So we have Black Entertainment Television...so what?? Are we not misrepresented on regular t.v? Before B.E.T most networks were full of programs with white hosts, white news reporters and white everything else. So give me a break. You most other networks cater to the white audience. Seriously, look at MTV's the Real World. This season there is not one black person in the cast. Other seasons they'll put maybe one or two.
Black History Month is definitely needed, since we recieve white history for the rest of the year. Its the shortest one anyway. You can handle 28 days of black. It wont kill you.
Why have a WAACP when whites run the government, what need is there for that?

This blog is ridiculous. No, I dont believe that blacks should call u cracker. But honestly, what history is there to that word? Have your PEOPLE ever been held back because they were white? It does nothing to insult the someone with the upper hand. But for us, Nigger was used to lessen our value. The fact that we were 'niggers' kept us in chains, split our families apart and killed our brothers and sisters. Tell me what Blacks have complete power over OTHER than black organizations?? Nothing, whites run everything else.

In no way is anyone trying to persecute a minority? You have it all wrong. Maybe YOU aren't, and I'm happy about that. But you're wrong. We are still wrongly convicted. We are still targeted, and people are doing many things to try to hold our people back. A lot of stuff is done discretely but it happens.

Maybe perhaps then we should work on equal integration and make black history part of the year long curriculum.

"Why have a WAACP when whites run the government, what need is there for that?"

Because even though there ARE lots of white people in the government...as well as other races included. there are still plenty of middle class and lower class white people who don't get the chances THEY deserve either, because "our race peaked in the past, so now its every other races turn". and need i also mention that there is a black man running for president at the moment?? what will be left to say if he gets elected??

If you want RUE equality you have to give EQUAL opportunity. I think that's what the writer is trying to say, and any organization that bases who they aid off of gender or skin color is not doing that.

i don't really feel that the real world should be any indicator of equality in our society. When was the last time they had a girl who DIDN'T bother to suck everyone's dick and actually took the time to read a book instead of going out to get drunk and take her top off every night on that show??

There are many forms of discrimination, not just racial, so where do we draw the line?? when it starts to get lie this, its time to erase the lines. We need to accept our differences not highlight them and use them as a way to get back at each other or as repentance for what somebody's ancestors did.

I think the idea of "your people, my people" is whats rediculous, not this blog. We are all one people. its called humanity. it was MLK, after all, who said to not judge by the color of skin but by the strength of character. So why is it okay for a black organization to do so?? it seems to be a direct hypocrisy and something thats missing the REAL problem and big picture.

And I agree. If that was the case, there would be no need for a black history month. But the fact of the matter is, the only blacks that we really hear about are Harriet Tubman and Martin Luther King, Jr.

need i also mention that there is a black man running for president at the moment?? what will be left to say if he gets elected??

Youre exactly right. There is a black man running for president. And without organizations such as the NAACP which fight for equal rights and opportunities, he wouldnt have made it that far. Our organizations work for progress. If there is no progress that can be made, there will be no more organizations. But what progression is really needed for whites?? And I mean as a whole. Not the smaller percentage of them that are low income.

If you want RUE equality you have to give EQUAL opportunity. I think that's what the writer is trying to say, and any organization that bases who they aid off of gender or skin color is not doing that.

If our own people dont do it, no one else will. Lets remember that blacks didnt chose to be put in the situation we are in. A lot of times, it is easier for the white families to get aid than it is for the blacks. THAT is why we have organizations for the Advancement of ourselves.

i don't really feel that the real world should be any indicator of equality in our society.

Keep in mind that I wasnt talking about equality when I mentioned the real world. I was talking about television audiences. As a black woman, I dont think that the show is directed towards me in anyway. It was just an example. I do like to watch shows where my own people are represented. Whites are the audience for the majority of television shows, just watch t.v, flip through the channels and see for yourself. Look at all of the white families on sitcoms. B.E.T is for people like me. I like to watch shows about people like me, where I am more likely to relate.

I think the idea of "your people, my people" is whats rediculous, not this blog. We are all one people. its called humanity.

This is a very nice quote. It would be great if life worked that way. But it doesn't. Regardless of what it should be, the past has made all the difference. The truth is MY PEOPLE were slaves. MY PEOPLE were taken from their homes and forced to conform to another society. MY PEOPLE watched friends and family get lynched and tortured. When I drive on the highway in Iowa, the Police notice that I am a product of MY PEOPLE and they follow me for 3 miles trying to figure out whether I stole the car Im driving.Yes, we are all one, but there will always be the group with the upper hand. And right now, that group is the whites.

I don't have anything against white people to be honest with you. But it really does bother me when people act like black people are just being sooo inconsiderate by doing something for ourselves. The black organizations aren't just for fun. There is a reason for them. If there was no misrepresentation, discrimination, or inequality, none of these would exist. If people understood that, blogs like these wouldnt be posted.

The idea behind those organizations is to provide a benefit to African-Americans to offset the institutional racism in our society. I know that sounds silly, but there have been studies done which prove it; resumes submitted to companies under "black" names like De'Shawn are far less likely to get hired or called for an interview than an identical resume under a "white" name like Cody.

I agree with you, it seems unfair that African-Americans have these extra organizations, but in the end, it seems to even out.
