Road to Vegas Day 7: The Longest Day of My Life

Tagged:  •    •    •

So I haven't really been on in the last 2 days because I've been so busy, but if you didn't notice, today is Day 7. That's right, my week is up. I leave for Vegas tomorrow. Right now it's all nerves for me.
I have very mixed emotions about leaving tomorrow. I'm so excited because I can't wait to be in Vegas and see the sites (our condo is a block away from the strip). I'm nervous because I still don't feel prepared, we had practice from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. yesterday and still had to bring home about 1,000 pages worth of research (it weighs 5 pounds). I'm worried because of all the bad weather Indiana's been getting because I don't there to be a delay or anything.
I'm finding it hard to be patient though. One to be in Vegas in general. And two because the more I've thought about it the more my competitiveness is stirring and I can't wait to get in there and get down to business.
As I mentioned lately Indiana has been getting some really bad weather. There has been a lot of flooding and storming with really high winds. This is actually very important to some of my legislation for nationals that is about agricultural subsidies. I found out that our programs that give farms money for the crops they grow do not account for extreme floods or droughts, so this weather could economically really hurt us here, since we have nothing but corn and soy beans as far as the eye can see. Even more so, these subsidies are often tied to education through free and reduced lunch programs, and even to marching band in some states. Who knew?
On a side note that is of much lighter topic, my coach got the girls that are going to Vegas these big floppy hats yesterday. Mine is gold (question: it is 97% paper and 3% metallic, but what kind of material exactly is "metallic"?) and it makes me happy because I've been begging for one, jokingly, all month. We look completely ridiculous in them but we are so wearing them sight seeing in Vegas.
But as it stands I have a ton to do. Be prepared for the updates from Vegas.

Wow, My own excitement for you is growing and I can not wait to hear about all your wins.
The big kid RugRats show has a debate girl that wears a weird hat too.... wait maybe she was a language geek... anyway I think she wins wearing the hat.

haha that's so amazing! I don't even have to win to be satisfied, I just want to make it past the first round in something. I'll definitely keep people updated and I'm sure I'll put on some pictures when I get back.

Do you find it odd that you are not as strong as you once thought?

In a sense I feel like we all are travelling with you to vegas! I am excited you get to go and I think you will do well in your debate. Even if your team doesn't win you tried and made an effort and went to vegas! lol

We had bad weather today in kentucky. Not as bad as you have been having I just know the climates are similar in a way.

good luck can't wait to talk to you again! :)

Oh by the way a new debate show is coming on, it is on HBO.
