This generation...not quite as dimwitted as once assumed.

As I sit on my couch – suffering from an unknown illness of the viral variety – I spend every five seconds updating my Facebook site. The S. Gay Street site provides a forum for the students of my school to write and read articles on a variety of issues.

Today I realized just how smart my classmates truly are.

For the past week I’ve been out of school, no thanks to modern medicine. I’ve spend my time writing and writing, one example being my previous explanation of the obnoxious supremacist attitude of my fellow classmates.

I, today, decided to write a brief explanation of my political views in this up-and-coming election. I then asked my peers to comment with their opinions.

There are now 43 comments on this topic.

And you’d think that they’d be insufferable displays of the senselessness that seems to personify the majority of our generation. [I apologize for my cynicism.]

However, through the comments, there have been legitimate debates on immigration and healthcare, even on the impact of Mitt Romney’s withdrawal. I wouldn’t have thought that my peers even knew who Mitt Romney was.

I just want to voice how proud I am. I’m actually glowing right now. This could be the attempt that helps my school to become more unified and less ignorant. I feel like I’m actually making a difference in the only way I know how. I know writing.

Now, enough praise, back to Food Network. It’s Valentine’s Day Unwrapped! THAT MEANS CHOCOLATE.

If only I were as fortunate as you, SGS. The only people that care about politics and the world in my school are vegans, kids on staff for the arts magazine and newpaper publication, annnnnd . . . That's about it. Sad to say, but my sighing continues.
