'Tis the Season!

Every year around this time, I stoop into this mood. It's when everything that was so recently new and exdciting is no longer, and I never cease to think "This sucks, I hate this, I want to go home" etc. With some experimentation I am determined to find a cure to my late summer blues this year, because frankly, this sucks!

When I was in school, this mood began when the curriculum actually began to be difficult rather than merely an introduction to the course materials. It was the time when I began to hate my school and beg my parents to be homeschooled. Now that I'm in college, the stress of my responsibilities with school and living on my own are quickly wearing me down. To get over this, I'm making a simple plan to eliminate my seasonal blues. If you have similar feelings to mine, please join me in my plan! I'm going to

1. Eat healthy. Now that it's early fall, many delicious vegetables are coming into seasons. Eating comfort foods like soups, casseroles etc. featuring fresh veggies will help to cleanse your system and be great for your health. Eating 3 meals per day willkeep your metabolism in shape as well.

2. Get some sleep! Sleeping the reccomended amount for your age group will eliminate your risks of fatiguing during the day, and will keep your mind clear.

3. Meditation and Journaling. Both of these activities will help to clear the mind of worrysome thoughts. When meditating, first inhale each event of your day one by one, then clear all of your thoughts and feelings on this event when youu exhale. This is also quite effective before going to sleep. Make sure you're comfortable and there are no distractions,  and take deep breaths.

Journaling is very effective to calm the mind, especially before bed. Begin by recounting the events of the day and how they made you feel. Merely examining how you feel about events will reduce pressure. After this, make several lists: what must be done tomorrow, what is bothering you, and what is out of your control. People often have trouble sleeping because these conflicts become so prominent when the lights are out and the body is still.

Even if you don't fall into this mood at this time every year, this plan is still a way to improve your lifestyle. I encourage you to start this plan and keep me updated on your pregression. I promise to do the same.
