Last night I went to see Charlie Bartlett. It was surprisingly good. But don’t take my word for anything I like every movie I see. I’m the type of person that chuckles at all the right times and laughs at all the wrong ones. It was similar to Juno, but a lot deeper. Anton Yelchin was fantastic. And it was overall hilarious, but the dark side is what has stuck in my head.
In class yesterday I was arguing in favor of all these mood altering drugs, saying that they do really help some people. We were having a discussion on the shooting at Northern Illinois University the other day, and how the shooter was just taken off of his meds. Being the only person that argued for the medication was interesting.
Then watching the movie where there was such a presence of them, where the main character was selling them to everyone, acting as their psychologist.
Robert Downey Jr. was also really good. The shockingly well portrayed addiction that he has was quite interesting, considering his personal experience with illegal substances. He was chillingly scary at parts.
All in all it was a good film. I was pleased, very very pleased.
