There have been countless studies comparing exhausted drivers to drunk drivers and the results- people who drive while sleepy make much of the same mistakes drunk drivers do. There have been many accidents when someone who was sleepy has killed others. The thing is that they don't get as much time in prison as drunk drivers. Why? Because at some point everyone has driven while tired. (For some its a daily thing) The jurors are sympathetic and think that the person shouldn't have to be punished as much. Well I highly disagree. Being tired shouldn't be an excuse for killing someone. These people don't deserve that much sympathy. If you know you are exhausted and you don't do anything about it, its your fault. You shouldv'e gotten a cup of coffee or maybe gotten up earlier so you wouldn't be sleeping and driving. These people deserve just as much punishment as anyone else who kills someone while driving. Saying it was an accident shouldn't be an excuse.
