What if we run out of oil?

Losing our oil supply here in the States, and our reliance on oil from the Middle East, could very well affect us as a country. It could become our down fall both financially and politically. We've always treated our energy consumption for granted, and it was only recently that I found out how much oil affects everything in our life. Did you know that the contents in petrolium has been used in our everyday products, like plastic?

This comodity called oil is getting harder and harder to get, and pretty soon, we might have to dig deeper into our ocean floors, which could result in accidents that could ruin our environment. Oil corporations are even thinking about using oil shale as an alternative source for oil, which means they'll be using gallons of water just to produce a barrel of oil. Plus, this alternative product will be dirtier than normal oil.

So what exactly is the point of all this? One, is to make us all aware, and know what and where ths commodity is from and how it's used. Second, is to inform everyone where most of this stuff is at, and how running out of it could totally ruin us as a nation. Finally, is what can we do about it, and what our options are now and for the future.
