My name is Christine. I am 22 and trying to pay for college.
Food for thought today is the current school system. In my own personal experience the school system I am in has deteriorated since I was in elementary school. This surprises me because we have added things in almost all the subjects to learn. I want to get other people's ideas on why the school system and education is getting worse. Also, I want to present some alternate options from public school and get everyone's opinions on them.
The first option I know of are private schools. My personal problem with private schools is that the really good ones are very expensive. The affordable ones don't seem to be much different than public schools.
The second option I know of is homeschooling. This can also be expensive, but not quite as much as certain private schools. However, homeschooling doesn't afford the social and athletic opportunities that being a part of a public or private school might.
What else am I missing? Let me know your thoughts on this.

The reason schools are having such a problem is because we have no reason to make them better. They have become a place to stick those individuals we do not think are prepared for the world for seven hours a day while the government sits on wasted property tax. If a voucher system were introduced, you would see your schools improve again.
We see this in the case of Cleveland, New York, Milwakee, and Florida voucher programs. http://www.manhattan-institute.org/html/cr_11.htm
