Arrows without arrowheads are just wooden sticks. Where's your arrowhead?

Too often, I've seen a large issue around ProgressiveU.

Dear bloggers, and I exclude the good bloggers in this--your blogs have no point whatsoever.

Seriously, no kidding. There's a couple types. One is okay--you list some facts, and (maybe) interesting info--and then leave it at that. Okay? That's ... great? But I don't really care. I really don't. It wasn't interesting--probably because it had no personality. Even the most fascinating topic can be made boring by a monotone, scientific statistical report. Stats are good! Stats are great--but use them to back up an argument, to make a good point. Don't shove some numbers under my nose and expect me to clap you on the back and say, "Good job! I like it!" and give you a cookie. No. Make sure your blog has a point--please, please, please, please. I know you bloggers can make some good stuff.

The second part gets a little worse. This is when you start blogging about your day. Or say something about what happened to you, don't elaborate on it at all, don't have a point--whatsoever. To me, this is what I got from your blog post:

"Wow, teachers giving me an unfair grade. What's up with that?"

I don't know, why don't you tell me what's up with what? After all, that IS what you're supposed to tell me. What's up with your boyfriend? Do I care about your boyfriend dumping you? No, I really, really don't. It happens--life goes on. Unless you have something interesting to say--get it off.

Now, the third type is worst. Reviews of music, TV shows, movies, and general crap that is not meant for ProgressiveU. Get it the HELL off. Now, if you feel something is AMAZING and needs analysis, could really further the human race, please, go for it. But at least make it interesting--or make it something that will captivate the reader who does not obsess over music. Otherwise, get it off. I really, really, really don't care what you think about Gray's Anatomy, Titanic, or Fairly Oddparents. That kind of stuff is for Xanga, LiveJournal, and MySpace. Notice the significant lack of extraneous bull on ProgressiveU (except, perhaps, your posts). Please, get out.

I can't say it any nicer than that. Get a point. Possibly, first of all, get a clue. You're just shooting blanks--throwing arrows without anything pointy. Oh no, you just shot a stick at me. Maybe it could poke my eye out, or something--but no. If you couldn't notice that your arrow didn't have a point, you probably couldn't hit within thirty feet of the target anyway.

Come on, people.
