First of all, these are the colleges that I'm interested in:
-Lycoming College (Williamsport, Pennsylvania)
-Roanoke College (Salem, Virginia)
-Colgate University (Hamilton, New York)
-Gettysburg College (Gettysburg, Pennsylvania)
-Bates College (Lewiston, Maine)
Today I had a pass to go to the guidance office. When I went, my guidance counselor asked me about what colleges I wanted to go to, when I told him he said that I had made up an amazing list. However, those are all expensive schools, and I should go to Mercer County Community College, and then transfer to a school in New Jersey, OR I should just go to a school in New Jersey. His reasoning was money; if I go to a school in New Jersey I can receive state money along with financial aid. I'm sorry, but I DO NOT want to go to a school in New Jersey, I have lived here for the past 17, almost 18 years, I am desperately craving something new! I also do not want to go to Mercer County; I know that there is nothing wrong with the school. I am currently taking classes there for Senior Experience. However, I feel that I would miss out on the college experience. I want to live in a dorm, have a roommate, and live on campus. I don't want to drive to school everyday and then go home. I don't know I'm just very annoyed. Shouldn't a guidance counselor care about what I want? Shouldn't he listen to me?-Kayla
