Sherlock Holmes: The Hound of the Baskervilles [JOURNAL 6 of 9]

Sherlock Holmes: The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle
Journal 6 of 9

Sir Henry Barrymore goes out one afternoon to secretly talk with Beryl. Watson, following Holmes' orders of to not leave Sir Henry alone secretly follows him. Watson is perched up on the hill watching Henry and Beryl talk. He then sees Stapleton running around like a madman with his insect net catcher going towards Henry and his sister. He disrupts them giving Henry a look of disapproval. After Stapleton and his sister walk aback home, Watson comes out from his hiding place to walk back with Henry. They both discuss the Stapletons and how neither of them understand why Stapleton won't approve of his love for his sister, Watson then comes to the conclusion. That Stapleton only has one person in his life, his sister. He's afraid to just give her away. Because then he would be all alone. Sir Henry still doesn't see it as fair however.

I defiantly think that Jack Stapleton is insane. He acts too bubbly as a character. Because no on e is that cheerful/happy-go-lucky all the time. However Jack does show a infuriated side of him that is uncharacterized like for him. He shows this side of him to Sir Henry. Because Henry is interested in his sister. I think another reason why Jack is giving Henry the cold shoulder is because he believes in the Baskerville family curse of the hound. He's very superstitious. Possibly he thinks if his sister were to marry Henry then his (Henry's) fate of doom by the Baskerville Hound will be the fate of his sisters as well.
