History V. Science

lately I have been getting into debates with one of my peers about various subject. One of these subjects is the importance of history to society versus the importance of science to society. While I do admit that science is important to the human race for it's contributions in the medical field my peer fails to recognize the importance of history to the human race. True some people can survive without ever having to hear about Henry VIII or Louis XIV but that does not diminish the importance of history. Without history the human race could possibly be thrown in to anarchy. History is the study of past political, economic, military, and other movements that occured in our world. Because of these movements todays political and social leaders can make important decisions with a bit more reflection. Military leaders today still draw ideas from ancient battles and politicians and world leaders observe the leaders of the past for inspiration. Where would we be if the founding fathers of America forgot the teachings of John locke while they were writing the Declaration of Independence or the Bill of Rights? Most of us would be in a position of subjegation. To forget about history is to forget about the law and those who fought to make our world a better place and means a surrender to anarchy.I am not saying Science is not important I am just defending the equal if not greater importance of History.

Far too many people don't see the importance of studying history. Look how much we have learned about the human race and how many scientific advances we have been able to make because others were studying history. I think they go hand in hand. Sure, we'd have science without history... but we'd also be wasting a heck of a lot of time trying things that we know for certain just won't work because yes, history already taught us that particular lesson.

HIstory is very important in life but also in science itself. Scientist constantly look back on what experiments have been done and what has worked, what has not worked.
