As I have recently joined progressiveu I saw it as a place to expree my opinions to the world and a great scholarship opporutnity! But as I try to type blogs on different subjects I do not notice the grammer of my blog. In an enviorment such as this of progressive the very diverse and intelligent readers and other bloggers here may find this as sort of insulting or even a lack of effort. Using "slang" or words such "gettin" instead of spelling it out totally. I personally did not think that it mattered! I believe the way you express yourself can be in any for or fashion that you choose. In an enviorment such as progressive's, your grammer should matter in you blogs or it can even turn away some readers. I am new to blogging, and didn't think there was any type of etiquite involved but there were rules of respect and fairness. In my latest blogs I have had this problem for myself. Using "4rm" instead of "from" and not spelling out words all the way either! I am currently tryin to correct my grammer in my blogs and make it more reader friendly. This way of writing can also help me in hopeful college education and my workplace. Even the fact enough that I am pursuing a scholarship for education should give me more motivation to try harder and put more effort into my work. Thank those of you for your constructive criticsm ^_^.

It's just that, in a forward thinking environment, a backwards use of the English language doesn't flow.
You can express yourself so much better with proper spelling and grammar (with an a, not e) because
1. More people will read it, and
2. They will read it and view it as something progressive, rather than a glorified text message.
Good for you for recognizing others' advice as constructive criticism, rather than a personal attack. So many don't, and they get overly defensive and proceed to use poor writing skills just to spite--I'm still not sure how that proves anything.
I would advise you to use the preview option before posting, just so you can see how your blog will look before submitting it. Sometimes you need to see it with out the scroll bar on the side to recognize any mistakes made. This blog could use some cleaning up, but it is applaudible that you are making the effort to better your writing. It may not seem like it, but it also shows how you are in real life--striving to better yourself. It is a good way to live. :-)

To help you out with correct spelling and grammar, type your blog entry in a word document first and use spellcheck. That should help with most simple typos and such.
There isn't a problem with how you express yourself, per se. You are an individual, unique person, and we want to see that. However, typing your blog so that other people understand what you are trying to convey will greatly help you. For example, I didn't know that 4rm meant from.
And...practice, practice, practice. The more blog writing and reading you do, the better you will get. Hang in there kiddo.

Comments are always appreciated! :)
I do agree that you have to be careful how you write things in your blogs. I am new to this also, but in a few blogs that I have read I may think they are saying you but they are really saying true. But the most important thing about blogging is that you make your blog interseting for people to read. Even the title has to be a grabber .
These are all excellent comments and I hope the original poster takes them to heart. We love to hear your thoughts and your progressive ideas, but its much easier for us to understand them if proper grammar and spelling are used.
Plus, I think that proper grammar and spelling are progressive in and of themselves in an era that heavily relies on shortcuts in text messages, e-mails, and instant messages. I cringe when I see ur instead of your or 2nite instead of tonight. I guess its really a personal preference, but on a website that offers scholarship awards and is meant to encourage educated thought, why not use educated writing?
There's a certain point where expression gets in the way of what you're trying to say and becomes confusing. I honestly didn't know that 4rm was from. I thought it looked like "forearm". Haha. I think focusing on your writing will definitely help you to keep up with others in college and in life because the first impression many people will have of you is your writing. There are times when you want it to be funny, cultural, proper, classy, and businesslike. The words you choose and the way you spell them will shape the image the person forms before meeting you in person.
