I just read an awesome blog by someone... *thank you* whom touched on a great point about this.

Disabled and Disability two of least favorite words. Well at least as of the last few years. It amazing how quick people are to slap that label on an person. My son for instance they like to say he is Disabled or that he has this " disability" and so therefore he should be treated different. The funny thing is.. I dont see Epilepsy or ASD or ADHD as that. I see it as yet another challenge that we have to face. I dont want people giving him special treatment because they think its an Disability. Schools are so quick to slap a child in an "special" class or tell parents that these kids needs Meds because they think they need more attention or an different enviroment that the other children. Which isnt always needed in some cases. How does one ever expect these children to learn or grow if you dont expose them to the real world and students whom are different than them. Kids learn from other Kids..

All most of these kids need is someone to be patient with them. Not drug them up and have them like zombies or lock them away somewhere. Granted I know some cases are different but at the same time doctors these days are quick to just write out a Scrip for something and send the kids on their confused way..

As a matter of fact my son can grow out of at least ONE of those. The other not so much but its something we can deal with over time. Just because a person has either one of those above don't mean that they are slow, stupid or have no common sense on whats going on with them or in the world. I mean come on how may 4 year olds do you know that can count in Spanish and Chinese and say the WHOLE alphabet backwards?? Who's the stupid one now?? Kinda makes you think don't it??

*NOTES* in case some of you don't know what the abbr. above are..

ADHD- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
ASD- Autistic Spectrum Disorders
