Is There Really A "Perfect Body?"

Girls constantly have to deal with bad body image.  They have certain "expectations" to live up to, such as wearing revealing clothing and having the "perfect body."  However, is there really a definition to a "perfect body?"  When I watch America's Next Top Model, I notice that some of the models get critiqued on their weight when they are already very thin to begin with.  Those girls are constantly judged on their appearances, but that doesn't mean that all of society should be judged.  Not all of us are aspiring models.  The average teenage girl and the average woman should not have to live up to the high standards of many just because celebrities have to.  Everybody has their imperfections.

"Education without values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make man a more clever devil."-C.S. Lewis

Women and men are trained as young boys and girls what is to be expected of them based on gender roles. Women don't HAVE to look a certain way..they have had it drilled into their heads that they should look a certain way because they have had it drilled into their heads that women are only as good as they look. I'm all for looking my best...but not if it means I have to spend precious $$$ or compromise my values or health. The perfect body is one that is more than just the sum of it's parts..it is resourceful, thankful, intelligent and enterprising..not the twit concerned with weight dumping on other people. The brain weighs 8 lbs....i'm sure if someone is so concerned with weight that they jeopardize their health they can hand that 8 lbs over...they obviously aren't using it.

It's sad that society has such a distorted idea of beauty.

absolutely not! everyone's perception of what is a prefect body differs. Not to sound reacist but white girls think being stick-thin is attractive, while latinas and black women prefer curves...

i believe that in the end, all that matter is that we are happy with who we are. In my mind people should start teaching young girls exactly this, that there is NO such thing and that what is on the inside is more important!

I think there are different kinds of beauty. Just look at Hollywood. Although they can be the harshest offenders of criticizing, the woman also show the variety of body types. There are woman that are straight up and down and beautiful. No chest, no hips, no butt, yet still beautiful. That is my roommate. Now me, I have curves galore, and yet I also have woman in the media to look at and say, hey, I'm shaped like that. Different strokes for different folks.

I've been contemplating the word "beauty" in my blogs on other sites for months. Most recently I cam to the same conclusion. There are different kinds of beauty. Strange as it sounds, I actually believe that some types of beauty are more beautiful than other types. I suppose that is a matter of opinion that varies from person to person.

A-WEEZY*-/_...the perfect body is that body that is yours...embrace it, love it. boy or girl.

I really think media imposes an abundance of nonsense on the image of the "perfect" person.

To be honest the perfect body is in the eye of the beholder. But you do raise a very good point! The "perfect" body doesnt exist. You can be healthy but for someone to really have a perfect body, not possible!
