My Job

I work in a call center for Sprint as advanced technical support. I basically take the calls that not many people want to deal with. You know, the PDA's, the broadband cards, the irrate customers. Yes, the customers, the lovely customers that call me but yet automatically assume that I am the one that needs the education. Even though I am the one that went through countless weeks of training, having extremely difficult tests at the end of each week, and who could forget of the nightmares experienced during those week... PDA's that haunted my mind and ensnared my soul.
I, however, am not trained and even as I solve their problem in an astonishing nine minutes and leave the customer speechless that there was in fact a resolve to their issue not only will that happen but then they want to speak to my supervisor and attempt to get me in trouble because of their experience with past representatives. Oye such is life I suppose.
Now I have to admit that Sprint service is not the best and we have had many issues with the customer care but we are not so totally bad either. There are other companies that are much much more insane. And I do admit that it is a tad difficult to reach the right department but that happens with any large company. Take for example my department advanced technical support. The customer will call in and at first reach customer care then depending on the issue either be transfered to technical support or some other department. Tech support will then transfer to advanced tech support where you have a chance of reaching me. fun fun fun. I know, I know but it does pay the rent. lol We have some customers that call in just to try their hardest to make already bad days go even worse as they protest their remittal hate for Sprint.
Since this is a blog I can say that although I would never dare utter those words at work. haha. So if you want to leave a message for Sprint go right ahead after all I am in a jovial mood and could do with a nice laugh. Cheerio!

I hate Sprint.

And yes, I call and complain.

But not everyone is a rude asshole. I realize that the phone lackies aren't the reasons for my distress.

I hate customers as much as the next person-- but you have to acknowledge your polite ones, too.

I worked as an intern on a radio show this autumn and one of my duties was taking phone calls during the show, basically so I could send on listener questions, or for certain segments, screen them to see if we would let them on the show to talk.
And there was one thing that would happen a lot. A listener to the show before the one I worked on would call, usually because they had problems with the website, and I would always say, "I'm sorry I can't help you. Would you like the number for listener services?" Half the time this went fine. The other half, people would explode about how I wasn't doing my job and that I should know this kind of thing and on and on and on. And, when I finally got enough time to say the second part of my spiel, they would complain that I took so long to say that I could give them the number.
2 people wanted to talk to my supervisor to try and get me fired. Needless to say, as she was sitting right next to me monitoring the show, she knew that I was handling things correctly.
I always found it more amusing than anything else.

I'm pretty nice when I call in. Except that one time when the lady on the other end was trying to tell me that I had a different modem than the one I had in my hand. Turns out she was looking at the account for the people that USED to have our number, and not our account, so she was wrong. My mom got so pissed, and I was in tears (of frustration) by the end of the phone call, because I had spent a good 45 minutes trying to get a new modem so I could get on the computer.
