Most of us here on ProgressivU are the younger generation, still in college trying to choose a major and trying to pay back debt. I happen to fit in this category. What amazes me is that like I keep thinking we know all the technology thats out there because its our generation; however, they keep on coming up with new things. My dad happens to know alot more than me with new computer technology probably because he is a mechanic/electrician/C&C operator (some type of machine that works with the 3rd dimensions). When I first got my laptop, I couldn't believe I could get wireless internet without plugging my computer into anything (even though I already knew about wireless cell phone internet).
However, other people around my dads age (40's) don't really understand, let alone use, common technology. My mother searches simple websites and stuff but she knows nothing about downloading or viruses or anything other than the internet pages. My aunt (really my uncle's wife) can hardly move a mouse. My fear is that we will be them in our 40's when even more technology comes out. I can't even keep up with my own generation.
I think like cameras and video cameras are the coolest things. How humans invent things amazes me. Everyday we hear of something new. How do we tape images? Capture time? These are simple things we take for granted. I am amazed we even have them. I know there are more technical things out there like artificial hearts, but i'm talking about things we use everday. Like the telephone, for instance. A person in America can call a person in Germany, God knows how many miles away! And its not like the phone in America has a wire connected all the way to the phone in Germany. Maybe its just me, but technology amazes me greatly.
We Don't Realize How Our World Is Changing

I won't be like that. I like to keep up with the changing scene. I keep in touch with my boss at my part time job via email, I see a 60+ year old professor for mac advice, and send my grandma picture messages. How you keep up with the changing world is up to you.

well we try to keep up. I use technology all the time, cell phones, lap tops, you name it. But it is still hard to keep up with it. As it constantly changes we become older and have other things to do than sit around and figure out how things work. People have full time jobs and families to care for. Its not as easy as it sounds. Technology is known to the generations it was made through.
