"Borat:Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" was a huge suprise winner at the box office when it was released. Sacha Baron Cohen is the actor and mastermind who plays Borat in his movie which brought in an amazing 26.5 million dollars during its opening weekend and ran away with the first place title at the box office for three straight weeks. If you asked me who Borat was a month ago i would respond with, "who the hell is that?" Now i've seen the halariously crude and racist movie three times and laugh even harder everytime i see it. The Movie itself is a documentary of American culture, when Borat(Sacha Baron Cohen) leaves his home country of Kazakhstan to come to America and travel across the country and observe and interview different groups and people to then go back to his home country and inform them of his findings to improve there poor and economically unstable country. Some of the places Borat attends in the movie are a woman's activist group, takes a liscense test with an instructor, sings the Kazakhstan national anthem at a rodeo and even gets picked up by a RV full of frat boys from South Carolina University. Now all was well for this brilliantly funny movie until the two frat boys from South Carolina Univ. filed a lawsuit against "Borat" over there drunken racist and sexist rant during one of the scenes in the movie. The lawsuit claims that the boys were taken to a bar by the production crew and told to "loosen up" and then lied to them stating that this was a documentary that would only be viewed by audiences in other country's. I guess these frat boys felt they were lied to and taken advantage of, and because of this they made some very racist and sexist remarks which basically the entire U.S. saw on the big screen. Now the big question is "Borat" responsible for the imbaressment of these Fraternity boys or is it there own fault and should movie and production crews be allowed to lie to people who are unaware what they're getting themselves into? I dont know that's for you decide but all i know was that this was one of the funniest movies i've seen in a long time and i wish it were me picking up Borat driving down El Camino.
