It is a sad thing that when it comes down to the wire, more often than not, it is those that have little that give the most. I have seen a person with more money than sense turn away from a starving child but a woman who could barely put bread on her own table stop to give that child the last of her change. And why is that? the person that has it all doesn't know how it feels to go without. I think everyone should go through a mandatory period of being poor. Just as everyone should go through a mandatory period of being a cashier, a waitress, and a janator... than maybe respect won't be so hard to come by.
Unless someone has had to deal withit themselves it seems that they can't be bothered with thinking about it or worrying about it. So what if it hurts someone else or if someone else is in need. they feel no pain and have no worries so all must be fine in the world. Its also a big part of the reason that so many Americans can forget that we have it so good here because we don't see how bad it is anywhere else... out of sight, out of mind.
