Honors and College Prepratory courses are very useful for those students wanting to attend college in the future. I myself am in Honors courses and can personally say that the classes truly prepare you. I compare the type of work that I do to the work that my cousin, who is in college, does. There isn't much difference in the format of the work. Essays are eminent in almost every class and the work makes you think "outside the box". There is a relatively new program called 'dual enrollment' which allows students to take a college course while still enrolled in high school. Once again, I can testify for this program because I am in it. I chose to take Honors Advanced Math this year. Near the end of the first semester, my teacher announced that our school was to start participating in this program. In the second semester, the students in the Advanced Math course would be taking College Algebra 1021 which would be taught by a college professor. The course is completely on the Internet. The professor comes on Tuesdays and Thursdays to lecture students about the material, and students work on homework and quizzes on the computers the other three days of the week. Tests can only be taken on certain days when the professor is at the school. Many of the grades of the students in the course at my school are actually better than their grades in Advanced Math. This is the same with my grades, also. This is where I will stop for now.
