In shakira's new song "Hips Don't Lie" it says
"You make a man wanna speak spanish
Como se llama
Si
Bonita
Si
....for all of you who do not know what "como se llama" means it is "what is your name?" then they answer it back with "Si" which means yes...then they say "bonita" translated means "Beautiful" and they also answer that with "Yes"...my question is why are they answering them with "yes"? what would you say "what is your name" then it is answered "yes"?? I know many of you on here will not think this is an intelligent blog but it is something that has been on my mind since I heard the song. So if you do not like my topic do not read my blogs. But for anyone who has this answer please tell me! or if you have any ideas.
thanks!

Some songs realy arent thought out. This was funny you should have put it under humor then it would be relevant to progressiveU. This kind of logic is present in many songs today. Or maybe Im just missing something
someone please do explain. This is funny.
At least Shakira's thing had a point too, I mean, it was a song. This girl came up to me in the caf the other day and said, "your hair's different." I said, "who are you?" She said, "I don't know."..."But your hair's different."
Point is - people just don't THINK
yeah i am still wondering also
i believe it's "yes?" for the first part. i think it's genious on shakira's writing skills. a guy asks, "what is your name" trying to grab the girl's attention and she says "yes?" he responds with beatiful because women are beautiful and the woman replies, "yes!" i think shakira explained this already in one of those candid interviews.
she's the most well-known intellectuals of her genre, let alone music in general. it's fun to see how artists put thought into their lyrics not jus bs.
This is very true I never thought about it that way. I probably missed the interview because I do not watch TV that much. But I do love Shakir's music and i'm glad she is coming out with more songs
thats immediatley how I thought of it when heard the song...I love that song so
Songs and their writer's are mysterious. If it's good music listen to it, if it's not don't. But analyzing music is like analyzing art. You'll never get a straight answer.

It's also like saying "yeah!"
You shouldn't read into pop music so much.
I just wanted to know some sort of explanation.
There is none. I heard songs with even more stupid lyrics. Btw, that means 'what's his/her name'. But it still doesn't make any sense. ;)
Same difference.
Yes, clearly these people were too busy doing something else to pay attention to the lyrics.
Well that part is rap. In rap you can say anything as long as it goes with the beat now a days.
its just a form of art and somehtine we dont understand it
good song
Again, songs are confusing. I just get frusterated when I try to comprehend.

I think the song says Si SE somewhere in it to. But I alway get lyics wrong. My boy-f used to make me sing quietly so he could hear when I got the lyics wrong, he liked telling what the song ment and what the real words were.

I don't think it really has to make literal sense... It's more important what you *feel* with this song. I love it...
