Stop thinking about the future, enjoy life

taylerrae's picture

When living life, we all think of the future and dont enjoy life at the moment. We all say "When im older I will have so much more fun", or "When i have my license i can do anything", and sometimes said "When i retire I will get the house of my dreams". But really, why wait? All we need to do is stop thinking of the future and start enjoying life that we are living at the moment. Before we know, our lives will be almost gone and we will wonder where all the thime went. I, myself dont feel like I have truly lived life, but yet, who does? I try not to let thinking of what I will do get in my way. I try to live each day one day at a time and make everyday especially special and fun. We only live for so long, each day is precious. Living life is all about having fun and enjoying ever minute. How can we enjoy life if all we ever think about is the future? Be greatful for everything and everyone in your life, for they can truly be gone before you know it. And when a bad situation comes along, look on the bright side because, sometimes hard to find, theres always a rainbow behind those clouds. So live today and leave all the thinking about tomorrow for tomorrow. Life goes by fast and enjoying each day is required. :)

You can ask anyone who knows me better than a few conversations that this is exactly what I do. I rarely know what I’m doing until after it’s done, and even then there are still questions about what just happened.

"When I’m older I will have so much more fun"-no, you have less. It’s called dying.

"When I have my license I can do anything"-no, there are laws. And then you learn to hate driving.

"When I retire I will get the house of my dreams"-says who? Many Americans retire and had more money working.

-“But really, why wait?”-
I would like to see you rush into any of these things right now. Go ahead, get the house of your dreams, then work your pretty little ass off trying to pay for it and never spend any time in it or with your family.

-“All we need to do is stop thinking of the future and start enjoying (the) life that we are living at the moment. Before we know (it), our lives will be almost gone and we will wonder where all the (time) went.”-
I wholeheartedly agree. 100 years is far too short to do many things I want to do; however there have been many days (especially at my current occupation) where I wished time would go faster, or that my 100 years were up.

-“I, myself don’t feel like I have truly lived life” -
you’re 15; you’re not allowed to think that yet. You haven’t even been anywhere but home. Move out and live three months away from everyone and everything you know, you’ll appreciate a lot more than you ever thought possible.

-“Be grateful for everything and everyone in your life, for they can truly be gone before you know it”-
I hate you and if I ever hear you utter these words again and give me one more goddamn ounce of shit about getting married I swear to god I will destroy everything you love and hold dear.

-“So live today and leave all the thinking about tomorrow for tomorrow”-
So when tomorrow comes, you can put off thinking about it for the next day. Then when the things that need to happen tomorrow need to happen today and you knew about it a week ago, you’re pulling your hair out trying to figure out why everything is always rushed. Are you sure you don’t work for the Army?

I think it is easier said than done, but if this were possible on a daily basis, it would be a very nice way to live. I just think that some attention needs to be paid to the future and that can be really stressful when it happens.

The one thing that is constant in life is that you live every moment in the 'now.' Too many ppl do think too far ahead or in the past. When one does that, they lose out on the 'now.' I like hearing that you are trying to live that way. It is difficult to do but if you really try to always be conscious, it can happen.

You got it right: Carpe Diem (Seize the Day!)

Carpe Diem! Seize the Day! I love this phrase, but I also think that it is wise to look to the future, so that the "future todays" are not filled with stress. It is good to find the balance! Take care!

I agree with most of the things you said, but some people (like myself) have to think about the future because of bad things that are going on in our lives, like not being able to attend college because some of us don't have enough income to pay for our tuition and books.
