ADHD/ADD: A Day in the life of me when I was in elementary school

For my whole life, I have had to fight for everything I could accomplish. When I was about seven years old the teachers tried to convince my parents that something was wrong with me because I could never make any friends in class. Eventually, a counselor from the school referred me to a doctor, for a condition that at the time I did not know. The condition was Attention Deficit Disorder.

Through out school, I never had that concrete encouragement from my family to be active, play sport, play in the band, or learn something new because the teachers convinced my parents that something was wrong with me that I would basically never been “normal.” For the duration of my elementary school and middle school, I took a medication called Ritalin that did not do anything to help whatever was wrong with me. However, in seventh grade, I started wanting to be seen or doing something like the other more likable boys at school. Therefore, I started running track, that was a disaster for me because everyone my whole life had already told me I would always be last so I accepted that and came in last at every track meet until high school.  I tried to do the band, but I had a band teacher that told me to give up.  I attribute all of this to my Attention Deficit Disorder.  I needed some guidance along with the medication and just  motivation.
