Myspace trouble

Ok. So, in my local newspaper today, I read about a Missouri woman who allegedly drove a thirteen-year-old girl to suicide by way of myspace.com. The forty-nine-year-old woman, named Lori Drew, supposedly created a myspace account under a fake sixteen-year-old boy's name (gotta love those hyphens). Through that, Drew is believed to have sent the young girl cruel messages. One of which saying that the world would be better off without her. The girl committed suicide in October of 2006.

What's even crazier is that Drew's daughter and the thirteen-year-old were friends. Drew, of course, has denied any involvement. Charges have been filed against her, but it unlikely she will ever be prosecuted, what with the way federal courts are now.

If she is guilty, what adult antagonizes a thirteen-year-old? How low do you have to be?

I love myspace and I doubt I will ever give it up, which probably makes me a bit of a hypocrite. But this story makes you wonder what kind of people send you friend requests? Who, exacly, is looking at your profile. It's horrible. People are crazy, you can't trust any of them. Again, this is the hypocrite talking, but we have to think twice before giving out too much information on the internet.
