We all know Hollywood is where normalicy goes to die. We all know that the Hollywood creations shouldn't be our role models but the sad truth is they are.
Everytime I turn on the tv I am disgusted at what I see. Everytime I listen to the radio I'm disgusted by what I hear. Everytime I look at a tabloid it's disturbing to see what the latest celebrity gossip is. I'll admit that I'm addicted to it and I'll admit that despite what I see on TV I still watch it, I still listen to the radio, I still read tabloids and watch Entertainment Tonight. It's addictve and that's exactly why it controls you.
I know I'm old enough to understand the difference between acting like a slut and acting like a mature, level headed girl. I know that smoking and underage drinking are not only bad but illegal (well, not smoking). I know that flauting yourself to the rest of the known world is something that I shouldn't do. I know that I shouldn't starve myself to fit the beauty staus quo because I know that no normal woman looks like that. But who doesn't know the millions of pre-teen and teenaged girls that listen to groups like the Pussy Cat Dolls and watch girls like Lindsay Lohan and Hillary Duff mature and make immature/bad decisions right before their eyes.
I see these girls in 6th grade parading around in mini skirts and revealing shirts, wearing make up and having oral sex parties. Though I'll admit those are relatively scarce but it does occur. It saddens me to see that these girls have no positive role modles, no girl who's average looking who has a decent and moral head on their shoulders. I want these girls to understand that they don't have to be anorexic or bulemic for others to respect them, mostly boys. I want them to know that boys their age aren't mature yet and won't value a smart, sophisticated woman until they're much, much older. It saddens me so much that the youth are affected by what they see and hear in the media and that they feel they have to be that way.
I think as a society we need to change our standars of beauty and we need to stop trying to acheive some crazy idea of what perfection and beauty is. We don't need any more Lindsay Lohans, Britney Spears, or Anna Nicole Smiths. We don't need to plauge ourselves more with unresponsible and immature role models who make bad decisions. We need to change and tell our young girls what real beauty, what real intellegence is otherwise we'll lose a generation of strong, smart, females to Hollywood, eating disorder plauged, movie star want to be lives.
I know that sounds a little harsh but it's true. That's just what I think wonder what anyone else does.

It is a sad plague, but true, at least for more developed countries. Will it ever stop? I doubt it. People have trained to value one thing as beauty, and another as plain or ugly.
What has always been most likely won't change in the years to come unless people /make/ it change.

they say Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think that the eye is influenced by the media it is insane - the lengths people will go to in order to have the "perfect body" or to be "popular" i think mu blog " Unrealistic Expectations Created by Media may be of intrist to you. - CHeck it out.

Yeh I agree with you. . .ITs so sad that the media has that much power because frankly they just consume and overwhelm us with "celebrity news". I wish there were more people like Oprah or someone. She gave more money to Katrina victims than any other source. She gives away cars to families and she is an intelligent person.
Its shameful the way these girls act. its like they have no common sense. They only do most of these things for attention. It really ticks me off the way they act ridiculous then get angry when the tabloids write about them. Do they not know that there are girls who look up to them and want to be like them? They need to clean up their act and get over themselves.
