Voting: the Twelve -year olds got it!

The voting age should be higher. Like forty, or fifty. Some people should not be allowed to vote at all. Conversely, some people should be allowed to vote when they are twelve, or fifteen. Those childhood geniuses, or early political activists. People like my friend Andrew Lohse, who should have been voting since he was in seventh grade. See, my point is that too much of the general public has no idea what they are voting about. Their opinions hold no political justification, and, if they do, it is based on personal issues and not the good of the country. I would hate to see the results of my future in the hands of these uninformed people, voting for someone simply because "He looks like a President" or "She sounds good when she speaks" or "My nephew is still in Iraq and I want him to come home." Don't get me wrong, please, I am in favor of getting out of Iraq, I just don't think that these people can vote objectively if an issue is too close to home. Or maybe it is the opposite? Can people vote more effectively if an issue is close to home? It is possible, but the majority of them will remain uninformed about other issues. Suppose our fellow from before, who wants his nephew home, voted for the person that guaranteed complete withdrawal in four months (highly unlikely...bear with me), and, turns out, that person was also in favor of abolishing social security. And the sixty-year-old fellow did not know that when he voted. Suppose that candidate wins; the fellow is now without social security. Because he was uninformed. This is the problem I am talking about.
However, I am only making genreralizations. There are people that really know what their political stances are and what their basis for voting is. This is why these people should be allowed to vote, even if they are only twelve.

personally i agree. i get too into my own issues and dont really look at what the country needs and just at what i want to happen. i need to stop and take a look at the issues and whats really going on in the country. but the people that really know like the kids you talked about should deffinately vote.

my favorite reason to vote came from Arizona last election.

If I vote, I'm entered into a drawing to win $1000!

It made me die a little inside.
