Uniforms in Public High Schools

Every student at my school has to wear uniforms. We wear white or purple shirts with black or khaki pants, skirts,or capri pants.Up until two years ago, there was no mention of uniforms, but the administration felt that the students were dressing too wildly and decided to implement uniforms. That was my sophomore year in high school. Since then, we can only wear what they deem appropriate instead of "club attire."Now it is senior year, and there are still complaints of " We aren't free to express ourselves" or "We hate these tacky uniforms," which I am getting sick of, so I will say this only once. School is meant as a place of learning, not a place to find your significant other. If you had not dressed so that every time you bent over, I could tell you what color underwear you were wearing, we would not be dressing like twins every day. You should have saved that outfit for Magic City honey.

haha why purple?
our school can wear basic solid colors: White, Black, Blue, Red and Green.
and the same bottoms.

is this a public school? i didn't know public schools could do that, but it sounds more of like a really extremely strict dress code than a uniform to me. also, no matter how slutty people were dressing, your school shouldnt have done that. sure, girls walking around in barely anything and people with gang stuff on their shirts are offendning to some people, but whats going to happen as soon as your out of that school? people in the real world dress that way, whether the school likes it or not. i think uniforms are a way to shelter kids from reality. when they come out of that shell though they become completely culture shocked

we will be, but we dress normally outside of school.

I didn't even think public schools were allowed to implement uniforms, that's horrible.

I didn't think so either to be honest. I knew they could limit based on obscenity/explicit material, but never thought they could make students wear uniforms.

I think it is simply ridiculous, public schools implementing uniforms makes absolutely no sense to me. I think its ridiculous. I know freedom of expression is somewhat restricted in schools but taking it that far is just unbelievable.

we all thought it was ridiculous, but the administration is acting like it is in the best interest of the students, which is a load of bull. they just want us to be clones off each other.

oh trust me, they are allowed.

At my school you wear a color according to your academy
Mine is purple for Performing Arts
Honestly, I'm glad we wear uniforms
It's so much easier.. and we're still allowed to "express" ourselves with accessories and stuff like that.
People make a big deal over the uniforms.. But I could care less

I love uniforms. It unites people rather than setting them apart. Besides, you have time to express yourself when you go out with your friends and when you're not in school. Wearing uniform is like wearing work attire anyway. I like it and I wish my school allowed us to wear one. Now I'm in college, I guess it's impossible now. Kids at school wouldn't have to judge you for what you wear and you might become friends with those you wouldn't think possible due to difference in clothes. I think it's cool and brilliant. You don't get to wear uniforms everyday you know. It feels quite nice.

who are you kidding? they still judge because there are so many loopholes in the uniform policy. it explicitly states that we are only allowed to wear purple or white collared shirts and khaki or black pants, but the kids can wear any kind of shoes and accessories as long as they are not red or blue.even though we have uniforms, we can still dress pretty much any way we want to, so people feel like they still have the right to judge.
