Why So Much Dislike?

So, unless I've been hiding under a rock for at least the past few years, it feels like no one supports the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan anymore. Now, don't get me wrong, I hate war (I do support the troops, though), but it just feels like everyone wants to ditch this problem and move on to what I call the "e" issues: the economy, the environment, or this upcoming thing we call an election. But we can't just ignore the wars or call for them to be over with now. The way I see it, if we pull out completely within the next few years, we commit far more of a sin than staying put.

In my opinion, there are several things wrong with coming back now. If we don't accomplish our goal, all the soldiers' lives lost will have been lost in vain. Think about that: more than five thousand soldiers between Iraq and Afghanistan would have died for absolutely nothing! And this doesn't even count the number of Iraqi and Afghani civilians who lost their lives as well. What a shameful waste of human lives--if we let go of the progress we've made in both countries.

Also, maybe the president was wrong about the reasons for our entry into one of the wars we're in, but that doesn't mean we should just abandon it and what we've been doing there. I don't like it when people bash the president for his choice when maybe he was fed faulty intelligence.

That's all I have to say for now. Maybe I'll have more to say later.

You say he was "fed faulty intelligence." I say he led it. That's not the point of yer post, though.

Montana's governor seems awfully devout in his belief that we aren't leaving Iraq. At least not until we achieve energy independence. Seems like a reasonable argument to me. What do you think?
