So I figured I should right something because I have read some blogs about it and some really rubbed me the wrong way. I am 19 going to be a sophomore in college next fall and I have been happily dating my boyfriend Dustin for a year. We started dating in April of our senior year in high school and yes we have had sex. We were both virgins at the when we started dating, we are each others first and I see nothing wrong with us having sex. Having sex is a human thing there is nothing wrong with it.
I have been reading some blogs that say you have no morals if you have premarital sex. First I have a lot of morals. My family are really big catholics and I am the only one in my family that does not believe in the catholic church. When my mom found out that we were having sex she told me that I was going to go to hell for having premarital sex. I really don't see the big deal about it, If you can trust the person your dating with this huge step in your relationship and you feel comfortable about giving yourself to someone then do it. I know some people don't believe in premarital sex but that doesn't give you a reason to say your going to hell, or you have no morals. I mean I know the times are different but back in the 30's parents married there children off when they were 14-15 years old and they get married to person who probably more thant 10 years older and have children at 16. I mean how is that any different. I mean maybe 16 is to young to have sex but when you 18 and older no one should say your to young or your not ready. Scientifically when you have your first period your body is ready for sexual intercourse but really the only person who can say that they are ready for sex is yourself not you parents, scientist, or your friends.
I feel that there is nothing wrong with premarital sex I love my boyfriend and for people to say when you have premarital sex you have no morals that just makes me mad.

"Scientifically when you have your first period your body is ready for sexual intercourse"
What do you mean that the body is ready for intercourse? After a first period, and just before the first period, the ability to concieve is there (but at times when small children become pregnant at young ages, their bodies can't handle carrying what they have concieved). Also, boys don't have periods- therefore that is a terrible argument and doesn't really make sense.
As for your "I mean how is that any different" statement/(question): the difference was that they were married and respecting their marriage. The difference in respect to the religious morals you reference is marriage or the lack thereof... so that was kind of obvious. if your argument that 13 and 14 years olds could have sex when married then 16 or 18 years olds can have sex outside of marriage, then that in itself is a weak argument.
I'm not going to attack you for your morals. I would never say that you have absolutely have NO morals because of one thing you did, but I don't think premarital sex is okay either (if that's okay).
im not say that its alright for 13-14 yr. olds should have sex and that its okay, thats the way it just used to be.. But saying people don't have morals because they have premarital sex to me is wrong. I mean you think that premarital sex is not okay that is your oppinion and well congrats on staying a virgin till you get married. I would never say that people don't have morals because they want to wait to have sex until they are married there is nothing wrong with that. That is your belief and what you choose to believe. People just make me sick when they say you don't have any because you have premarital sex.
And i know guys don't have periods.
I never said that you said that it's okay 13/14 years old to have sex, I said the moral distinction between kids that age could marry and have sex and two 16 year olds having sex that were unmarried now>>> was that the the younger children from awhile ago were married. The moral distinction being that Christian Catholic morals you referenced. (I am not Catholic myself, although I am Christian.)
I never condemned you or said you had no morals. I said that I wouldn't say that you had no morals. You didn't need to put that you don't like people saying that about you in your comments; I just read that in your post. I was not one of the people telling you that. I stated in a much more neutral way my own opinion on the matter than you just did.
I was just saying a few of your arguments weren't exactly sound; one of them being unsound for multiple reasons- one of those reasons that it did not apply to all children.
Hey, I grew up in a catholic family too, but when I told my mother and father that I was sexually active they just wanted to make sure that I was using protection and I was being safe. I think having sex before marriage is something that is that persons choice and it doesnt mean you dont have morals. The first person I had sex with I truely loved and we thought it would bring us closer together and it did. We arent dating anymore but that is a whole other issue lol, but we are bestfriends. The whole concept of waiting until marriage is so that you can give something special to someone you love and if you happen to find that person and are not married to them then I dont think God will condem you to hell for it. Now im not saying for horny 16 year olds should go have sex with someone, but if your mature enough to really love someone, then I think your mature enough to have sex with someone.

well yeah thats the whole point. It just made me mad when people go around say you have no morals because you practice premarital sex. I mean i love my boyfriend and well we are both happy. i agree that if someone wants to wait till marriage to have sex thats fine there is nothing wrong with that but to say because people didn't wait till marriage to have sex they don't have morals and stuff is just wrong to me.
Arjacks2 raised some interesting points about the science of sex.
Free love is what the Green Underbelly is all about. There's a long list of precautions to take, of course, but something 100% organic, so instinctual, so beautiful has a role in our society. Morals come into anything and come out of nothing. Most of society's laws protecting underage individuals are absolutely understandable, so when you set up the secular safeguards, I can dig it as long as you're safe, and it's a mutual happiness that you're promoting. Remember, Clean, Green Sex is always the best (check out my post on the issue)

yeah i figured someone would get a kick out of it
Sex is natural and can actually be healthy. Prematarial sex is fine by me, my boyfriend and I participate in it. I think the one thing that is horrible and could be accounted to possibly going to hell is permiscuous sex. Thats just going to get you either knocked up, or with some kind of disease. Besides that I defintely feel that when you have sex with someone you give just a little bit of yourself to that person. I am completely in love with my boyfriend and we are very mature adults.. (okay maybe not Very mature).
yeah i know now what you are talking about.
"participate in it"
Giggled... a bit.

I agree with your feelings about pre-marital sex. I don't really see a problem with it as long as people are safe or in a committed relationship even if that doesn't technically mean marriage. I do think though that some of your arguments didn't really make sense and that you might not have really articulated everything you meant to say in the best way. I'm not saying this to pick on you, but I'm just warning you that people on here can be pretty critical and I sometimes have trouble articulating myself properly so I'm just warning you.
thanks though
