In general, parents are naïve when it comes to parenting. Even parents who have several children can get caught in the hurricane of child rearing. Parents need to be properly educated when it comes to their children. Americans must obtain licensure to operate an automobile, fish, hunt, cut hair, and even marry. Parents are born every day, and yet we as a society do nothing but pat them on the back and scoot them out of the hospital with their bundle of joy, regardless of experience or license.
My personal interest and passion for this subject makes me a perfect candidate for this proposal. I too was one of those new parents, sent home with a baby and a trial pack of diapers, wondering how the instruction manual to the screaming tot had disappeared. I was inexperienced and clueless, a position many parents find themselves in after their child is born. My personal experience has helped me formulate the ideas for this assignment.
There’s not much research on parenting classes or even parenting in general. The area seems vague and understudied, its huge part of American lifestyle and culture that doesn’t get the proper attention and scrutinizing it deserves.
In generalized terms, I am amidst the project of my life. Something has to be done, and I will see it gets there.

You only need to look at your own parents to learn about them. I like mine. And i know tons of people hate theirs, but in my opinion it's usually the luck of a draw. You can't pick parents, just like they cant pick which kid to give birth to. Of course there is always adoption.

I love kids, but I would never want to have one. Because I'm afraid that I would screw them up. But the weird thing is is that I have this great maternal instinct so I know that I'm going to be an awesome aunt when the time comes. I think that people just need to think about what they need in life and then put it into terms for someone that is way smaller and a lot more vulnerable then them. At least that is what I think.
Humans are flawed. Therefore, humans must regulate them and license them to do what comes instinctively.
We must have more coercion and the government must have more money and guns to 'improve' the human race.
Why must so many people feel the drive to force each other into the same mold?
A Fact is Always Better Than an Ideal.
The government shouldn't have any say in if or how many children we have! We are not China!
I'm confused by the italics.

It is excerpted from a project I am working on this semester.
I had not read your post when I wrote mine, but this is very true, and very much related to what I have been thinking about in regards to this subject.
It seems like a very sound and worthy goal to aim for, and I wish you luck!
