Some blacks enjoy media's 'negative' portrayal of them & the black community -

"Momma, when I grow up I want to be the Sexiest & Hardest Ghetto Black Male Felon," I suppose a young, black male who hears about the competion and deems it admirable might say.

And while there are certainly other firsts young, black boys can still aspire to be, is not aspiring to have the Sexiest & Hardest Ghetto Black Male Felon Bragging Rights (for any particular year) something worthy of aspiration?

African Americans, after all, can be anything they put their minds to, right?

Colin Powell aspired and became the nation's first African American Secretary of State. Thurgood Marshall aspired and became the nation's first African American to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. Tony Pierce aspired and became the nation's first black astronaut. Daniel Hale Williams was the first man (not to mention black) to perform open heart surgery. Finally, let's consider Clarence Thomas who aspired and became the nation's second African American to serve as a Supreme Court Justice.

We'll want to include Thomas to illustrate that just because one black man does something 'admirable' doesn't mean another can't come along and do the same thing.

Hence today's young black males shouldn't be detered from aspiring to hold the Sexiest & Hardest Ghetto Black Male Felon Bragging Rights because others like Tupac Shakur, Mike Tyson and St. Nicolas Thief have already accomplished the task

Nope, they should let that hold them back at all!

Moreso, the fact is blacks, who make 10% to 12% of the American population, account for over half of the murders in this country and near 50% of the prison population.

So while seeking to be the first African American president of the United States might be a formidable goal, holding the Sexiest & Hardest Ghetto Black Male Felon Bragging Rights is probably easier to accomplish.

Are you serious? Even though you have stats, I would have to disagree on the idea that blacks kill more than whites. They may, but you have to admit that cops look harder at blacks than whites when committing a crime. I'm saying that it's more likely for a black person to get caught committing a crime and getting incarcerated than a white person.

If you don't believe me ask a few black people how many times they've been followed while in a department store and then ask a few white people and compare answers.

I will permit no man to narrow and degrade my soul by making me hate him. ~Booker T. Washington

That's a powerful, powerful quote by Booker T.!

I'm followed evertime (most of the time) I go into a department store.

I observe that whites aren't followed nearly as frequently.

You have to agree it IS easier for a black male to get the Bragging Rights than to become president....

And thus I clothe my naked villainy;
With old odd ends, stol'n forth of holy writ;
And seem a saint, when most I play the devil.
William Shakespeare
